The 2018 Lake Havasu Desert Storm Poker Run and Shootout kicks things off with a public street party along McCulloch Blvd in downtown Lake Havasu City at 1 pm on Thursday, April 19th. It's one of the biggest events of the entire year. Last year, over 10,000 people filled Main St to party it up. This is your chance to see the competitors' boats up close. They'll be lined up along the boulevard. Grab your Desert Storm Poker Run memorabilia while you're there, too. Live music and entertainment fill the streets. Several restaurants and bars offer specials for the evening as well. It's a great time that you're not going to want to miss!
Competition begins after the parade through the Channel at 11 am. Then, participants race five separate stops around the lake. At each stop, they'll pick up a card. By the end of the competition, each racer turns in their five card hand. Best hand wins.
Cheer them on at the start/finish line or one of several viewing areas along the way. For your best vantage points, bring your lawn chair and scout a spot at London Bridge Beach, anywhere along the Bridgewater Channel, Windsor 4, the English Village, Rotary Park or the Nautical Beachfront Resort.
Stops along the route include Kicker Audio in Havasu Springs, Nordic Boats in Steam Boat Cove, the Havasu Riviera Marina, Queen Ann's Revenge at Havasupai, and Pirate Cove Resort in Chemehuevi. Cards must be turned in between 5 pm and 8 pm to be considered for the grand prize. Join the dock party and concert at Kokomo from 7 pm to 10 pm.
But the fun's not over when the Poker Run ends. The Shootout heats things up at 10 am on Saturday, April 21st. That's when the first competitors race their way through a two-mile course at Site 6, on the California side of the lake.
Come see why Performance Boat Magazine named this one of the Top 5 Poker Runs in the US. Whether you watch from the sidelines or join the action yourself, it's a lot of fun!
