The Cannonball Motorcycle Run Stops in Lake Havasu City!
Germany gave the world the very first motorcycle back in 1885. In 1903, William Harley revolutionized the industry. Fast forward to 2010, when a few vintage motorcycle enthusiasts wondered what it would be like to take these bikes on a cross country tour. That's when the "Race of the Century" was born. The latest incarnation of this tour, the 2016 Cannonball Motorcycle Run, stops in Lake Havasu this Friday. You'll have the chance to meet the riders in person while they rest up a bit before heading off to their final destination in San Diego, California.

2016 Cannonball Motorcycle Run
On September 10th, 100 riders began their 3304 mile trek in Atlantic City. From there, they traversed winding roads through Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas and Colorado. This Friday, the 2016 Cannonball Motorcycle Run makes its way to Lake Havasu City for a public pit stop and dinner. From here, they continue their tour to Southern California. Their cross country adventure ends in San Diego on Sunday.
This year, the organizers decided to make this a true "century" race. All 100 riders complete their 3300+ mile ride on bikes that are at least 100 years old. Nothing built after 1916 will be allowed in the group. This makes their pit stop even more interesting. When you meet the riders, you get to see these magnificent early pieces of mechanical engineering in person as well. For any motorcycle fan, this is an opportunity you won't want to miss!
