Guess What the Bridgewater Channel Swim Race Winner Gets to Do This Year!

Every year, Lake Havasu City transforms into a twinkling display of holiday cheer. Beginning the day after Thanksgiving and continuing through until the new year, more than half a million lights set the Old English Village aglow. This year, the winner of the Bridgewater Channel Swim Race gets to officially start the Festival of Lights for 2016.

The Bridgewater Channel Swim Race is open to both residents and visitors of all ages in Lake Havasu City. Registration for the race starts at 5pm at Shugrue's. To participate, simply show up at the restaurant and be prepared to swim across the channel at 6pm. Whoever makes it across in the fastest time gets to flip the switch at the London Bridge Resort that officially starts up all the lights around the channel.
Parking at Shugrue's is limited. However, if you want to watch the finale of the race, park at the London Bridge Resort or in the English Village parking area under the bridge. Once they officially start, the Lake Havasu Festival of Lights runs from dusk until 10pm nightly through New Year's Day. Santa promises to visit from 6pm to 8pm every Friday and Saturday beginning the day after Thanksgiving. Parents should bring their cameras to capture their little one's visit with this jolly old elf.
