The 26th Annual Buses by the Bridge in Lake Havasu City
When I say "the '60s", what is the first thing you think of? The Summer of Love? Hippies? The Grateful Dead? Well, for many people, the ultimate symbol of the 1960s counterculture movement is the VW Bus. Even though it originally came out in 1950, it became the go-to method of transporting surfboards and lots of friends on the cheap. And that popularity has only grown since. Whether you ever owned a Bus or have simply been an admirer, the Havasu Buses by the Bridge event is a definite "must-see".
- What: Havasu Buses by the Bridge 2023
- Where: Lake Havasu State Park, Windsor 4 - Maps & Directions
- When: January 13th to the 15th
This three-day event brings more than 600 vintage buses (and their not-so-vintage owners) to Lake Havasu State Park for camping, partying, and family-friendly fun. But you do not have to be a bus owner to enjoy the festivities. Day visitors are also welcome. But you must purchase a wristband to get in. And day visitors must leave no later than 10 pm each evening.
Over the course of the weekend, organizers put together a huge list of activities. These include a bike ride to Tinnell Skate Park on Saturday morning and a cornhole tournament Saturday afternoon. Sign up for the tournament at 9 am on Saturday if you want to participate in that. The first 32 teams to register receive spots on the roster to compete.
Enjoy live music by The Borrowers (Friday night) and The 64's (Saturday night) at Showmobile. There will also be a kids raffle and kids coloring contest at Showmobile on Saturday. Also, bounce houses let the kids get their energy out in a safe space. And don't forget to pick up your raffle tickets. They've got some pretty great prizes this year. All money raised from this event gets distributed to several local charities, including Hospice of Havasu, the LHC Library, and local schools.
Campsites get snatched up pretty quickly. So, if you want to camp out at Havasu Buses by the Bridge, you need to contact Arizona State Park as soon as possible to make your reservation. Good luck!
