The 7th Annual Havasu Balloon Fest - One of Lake Havasu City's Favorite Events to Start the New Year!
New Mexico may be known for their love of hot air balloons. But, they've got nothing on our Lake Havasu community. In January, we celebrate the 7th Annual Lake Havasu Balloon Festival for 2017. That's when our eyes are diverted over the lake rather than on top of it.

Both morning and evening ascensions are planned to take place throughout the three day event known as the Lake Havasu Balloon Festival 2017. The first mass ascension of the day takes place at 7:45am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can watch as hundreds of balloons rise up all over Lake Havasu City. An afternoon mass ascension is scheduled for 4:30pm to 5:30pm each day of the event as well. However, I highly recommend going to watch the night glow each evening at 6:30pm on the balloon field.
If you're interested in taking flight aboard one of these hot air balloons, you have two options: tethered and untethered. Tethered rides cost just $20 per person. With these, you stay in one spot, tethered to poles set firmly in the ground. For the more daring, consider making a reservation for an untethered ride. These are $200 per person. On these rides, you sail over the City and surrounding desert land along currents of air.
Of course, all air ascensions scheduled (including tethered and untethered rides) throughout the Lake Havasu Balloon Festival 2017 will be dependent upon the weather. Strong winds will cause delays or outright cancellations. Contact Marquita McKnight on the day of the event to make sure the schedule hasn't changed for the day.
In addition to the hot air balloons, the Lake Havasu Balloon Festival 2017 offers guests fun carnival rides for all ages. Visit vendor row for commemorative gear and other fine crafts. Watch the skydivers as they float down to Earth. Enjoy live dog shows, dancers, bi-plane shows, kite displays and much more. There is a little something for everyone at the festival. You won't want to miss a minute of it!
