Each year, local businesses, firemen, police officers and city council members compete against each other in one of the most outrageous outrigger races you will ever see. The Lake Havasu Great Pineapple Race 2016 is shaping up to be the best one yet. Could that have something to do with the fact that these guys will be competing in their own Star Wars-themed get-ups? Quite possibly. That's all the more reason you need to be at London Bridge Beach to cheer them on.
The Lake Havasu Great Pineapple Race 2016 will start at the south end of the Bridgewater Channel. Each team will race the one-quarter mile course to Dog Park. Spectators can watch anywhere they want along the Channel. The festivities, however, will be back at London Bridge Beach. The event starts off at 4pm with their official opening ceremony. Believe me. If you haven't ever been to one of these outrigger races before, you absolutely MUST get there at the start. You won't want to miss a minute of it.
Racing begins at 5pm. Winners will be announced at London Bridge Beach at 7pm. Beverages, both beer and non-alcoholic drinks, will be available for sale at the beach. You must be 21 or older with a valid photo ID to purchase and/or consume alcohol.
