Has your life jacket seen better days?

Lake Havasu Life Jacket Exchange

Summer is almost here.  Our Lake Havasu schools will be letting out soon.  The lake starts getting more and more crowded as tourists come from all over to bask in our sunshine.  Before you head out on the water, make sure you have the right equipment.  The law requires one life jacket per person on the boat.  The jackets must be appropriately sized for each person, too.  If you have older, ill-fitting jackets, you can bring them in to the Lake Havasu Life Jacket Exchange this Saturday, May 21st.

Come to the stage at London Bridge Beach on Saturday, May 21st. From 10am to 12pm, Arizona Game & Fish (AZGFD) will be partnering up with the LHC Police Department for the Lake Havasu Life Jacket Exchange 2016 event.

Bring your old, ripped up, torn or outgrown jackets and exchange them for a newer one. Orange life vests will not be accepted no matter what condition they are in. Last year, many people went out and bought brand new traditional orange life jackets for $5 each expecting to be able to exchange them for a much higher quality jacket. Arizona Game & Fish wants the exchange to be fair. This was not.

Anyone who goes boating often is welcome to bring their watercraft with them to the Lake Havasu Lifejacket Exchange.  AZGFD will be happy to look it over and make sure it is in shape for the water.  They will let you know if they see anything that might possibly be a hazard so you can take care of it before you head out again.

The Lake Havasu Life Jacket Exchange is scheduled to take place from 10am to 12pm.  However, they will only be able to exchange jackets as long as supplies last.  There is only one jacket exchange per person.  Get there early.

My family and I have already been out on the lake a few times this year.  We plan on spending more weekends out on the water this summer.  We are equipped for whatever we may encounter on the lake.  Are you?
