Ernest Hemingway once said, "a man is never lost at sea". Well, we may not actually live by the ocean, but we do have a nice lake to help scratch that sailing itch.  If you love spending the day on the lake, then you might want to come out to watch the McCulloch Cup Hobie Cat Regatta.

This weekend, sailors from across the Western United States make their way to Lake Havasu City to compete in the McCulloch Cup Hobie Cat Regatta. Lake Havasu Yacht Club and Hobie Fleet 88 sponsor this magnificent event. Unlike the typical speed boats you usually see racing around the lake, this race pits multi-hull catamarans against one another.

The McCulloch Cup Hobie Cat Regatta is open to everyone. However, you must be a member of the Hobie Class Association of North America (HCANA). If you are not currently a member or let your membership lag, you may renew/register for a current membership at the park before the racing starts.

Even if you don't actually participate in the racing itself, you can come to the park and cheer on the competitors. Spectators are always welcome. Watch the action unfold on the beach. Or, better yet, go out on the water in your boat and watch sailors compete up close and personal. Of course, make sure you mind the race course indicators. Organizers do not allow anyone other than competitors inside the designated racing area.
