Desert Bar 2017

Desert Bar Gets Ready for the 2017-2018 Season!

When blazing Lake Havasu temperatures begin to dip below the triple digit mark, one of the most popular attractions opens for business: the Desert Bar. Also known as The "Nellie E Saloon" Located well off the beaten path in the Buckskin mountains, this remote property welcomes thousands of visitors each year. On September 30th, the Desert Bar opens up for the season. And I think you're going to want to be there. Map & Directions

What began as a old mining camp started as a five stool shack in 1983 and has blossomed into one of the most popular seasonal watering holes in the Parker/Lake Havasu region. Desert Bar season begins on the last day of September and continues on through until the last weekend in April. Due to its remote location, the bar operates weekends only (Saturdays and Sunday, 12pm to dusk). Map & Directions

Visitors can still visit the original shack. However, Ken, the owner of the Desert Bar, built a bigger saloon on the property in 1988. And it continues to operate to this day. In addition to the original shack and current saloon, the Desert Bar location includes restrooms, a church (no religious affiliation), covered walking bridge, horseshoe pit, stage and large cooking area. Everything here is solar powered. Water comes from a solar powered well on-site.

Every bit of alcohol and food must get trucked in each week. This business operates on a cash only basis. No credit or debit cards allowed. And definitely no checks accepted.

The owner lives on the property as well. So, since this is his home as well as his business, he asks visitors to kindly adhere to the "weekends only" hours of operation. Offroaders may be tempted to trek the five miles of unpaved road to visit during the week. But that would be trespassing as this is private property. Let's respect the man and his home! To get to the Desert Bar, take the Cienega Springs Rd exit off Hwy 95. These unpaved roads can be rough on a suspension. While you don't need to have 4 wheel drive to make it to the bar's location, it wouldn't hurt. Or, you can leave your regular road vehicles behind and ride on up on your ATV, sand rail, dirt bike or other offroad vehicle instead. Maps & Directions

Feeling adventurous? Want to do something a little different now that the weather's cooling off? The Desert Bar opens for business on September 30th. I highly suggest you make at least one trip out there this season. It's like nothing you've ever experienced before. Happy trails!
